LADY
Out of all the dogs we had throughout the years, Lady was
the most gentle, ladylike, and loving dog. She was abandoned
after giving birth to a litter of pups, which were probably gorgeous
if they looked anything like Lady- talk about the height of cruelty!
Even after being adopted, Lady mourned the loss of her pups for
a couple of months. She had such a mother's heart. All I could
do for this sad doggy mother was talk to her, pet her, and hug her.
for the rest of her life. Her heart was as big as her body.
She became a contented and happy dog.
Lady, a long-haired, golden German Shepherd, was the
largest dog we've ever had and yet was so soft and kind.
The name Lady, which we chose for her, fit this dog perfectly.
She was intelligent and curious, but never bothered
or hurt any of the animals. The ducks and chickens
could run loose around her safely.
Lady wasn't a barky dog. If she barked, it was for a
reason. She loved playing with Lucy Lou every day
whatever the weather. Her fur was thick and soft.
to eight-week-old Tex after we bought him.
With her quiet demeanor, Lady was the perfect
subject to take pictures of. She was content to wait
in the background until needed. I have never had such a
photogenic dog. She was so gorgeous.
Everyone who saw Lady exclaimed over her beauty
and personality. Every time she met someone, Lady
would wait patiently and wag her tail gently.
Lady emanated peace and was a restful presence. If I
had a stressful day, all I had to do was sit on the front porch,
talk to Lady as she sat beside my rocking chair, and run my
fingers through her fur, and I'd feel calm.
We had Lady for several years. We don't know exactly how
old she was when one day Lady had a massive stroke.
We found her lying on her side, unable to move or respond.
Just as quietly as she came into our lives, she left us.
We buried our beautiful Lady with our other dogs on
a hot summer day. I still miss my Lady girl.
